Not hard to do with that amp output configuration.

Wasn’t hooked up backwards. Found a broken wire in speaker though. Soldered back. I have AMP gain barely turned up like between 8 and 9 o’clock. And it’s plenty loud. Would I benefit from different speakers? This is my first amp in anything I’ve ever owned. Is it normal to only turn the gain up that much. Would a different head unit be better? Also my speakers have a button on the front that says 0db and -3db. What do y’all recommend with that. Also I have my frequency **** turned to where I have decent bass but not over doin it.

Set your gains the old school way. Turn gains all the way down, set treble and base to neutral, turn radio up to 3/4 volume and adjust gains until you hear distortion and back off a bit.
Also, run your ground to the battery. Not on the neck or triple tree.

Your gains are probably right on cusp of what those speakers can handle. Leave the button on 0db unless the highs are really harsh. Are you running the crossover on Flat or HP?

Your hu just delivers the music. All are about the same. The magic is in the amp and speaker set up. Those kappas you have are old and who is to say that another wire will break or VC will quit. As far as speakers go, that is up to personal preference on what and how you listen to music. That is where the fun begins. I would try to find a gathering of sleds and listen to what others have before I buy. Those guys are always love showing off their set ups. lol If not it just may be a crap shoot on if you like what you buy or not. Hence always speakers for sale in the for sale section. We are all chasing that unicorn.

There is no Pre Rushmore Harmon Kardon HU on the planet that will sound as good or better than a decent aftermarket HU. The difference is night and day brother. The HU is where it all starts.

I thought he had an aftermarket hu. Bates is right. If you have a stock hu, then you wil benefit from an aftermarket hu a ton. This is what happens when you get old... my bad.
