Subscribed as I am about to buy these speakers for the same bike.

 

I wanted to upgrade my sound on bike. did research on hear bought a cerwin vega B52 amp BT355 line leveler 18" RCA went to best buy got a 200w car amp install kit came with 10 guage wire and inline fuse holder. hog tunes amp tray mount.

 

You’ll have to do the pod mod, or get the BT speaker brackets or try boom speaker grills. The BT speaker brackets are the way to go,but are pricey. I did the pod mod with the kappas. It’s not hard to do.
B52 amp and the kappas sound nice that’s what I’m running in my 15 sgs.

Just noticed you have a RGS my bad!

 

I've had the Kappas in my 17 RG since last summer & they're working fine with the stock grilles, I just went out to check & I don't think they touch. If they do it's very minimal & just barely on the foam surround, I couldn't see any marks on the surround, great speakers. So far no amp & passable performance, but looking for the best plug & play option for an amp, looking at J&M 360 watt 4 channel to go with some speaker lowers.

 

 

Yes the tweeter does contact the grille slightly, but if you rotate it a little it doesn't seem to bother & since it doesn't affect the cone I didn't bother. I thought about the Hog Tunes grilles also for a combination of looks & added room, if you get them let me know how you like them.
