Default New head unit, factory amp??

So, I tried to upgrade from my stock head unit. I'm quite happy with the sound of the stock speakers and all... but apparently since I have a stock amplifier on my bike, it seems that NO STEREO out there is compatible with it. Is this true?? I've seen converters to apply to stock head units and aftermarket amps, but not the other way around. the only forums I found were about head units on bikes WITHOUT a factory amp.

Please advise... wasn't looking to upgrade entire system as I was happy with stock, just worn out head unit and figured I'd upgrade while I'm at it.

Welcome to the forum.

What year/model of bike?

What aftermarket H/U?

HD did it that way on purpose, boom only works with HD stuff.

Sorry, I copied and pasted that from my intro post. I didn't realize I missed the bike pet. I ride a 2011 RGU CVO, and I installed a Kenwood KMR-M322BT

That HU is a good start, you'll need an amp and speakers to have a GREAT stereo on that CVO...whats your budget!

Well I dropped 130 on the HU. I'd really like to avoid pushing more than 300 more for amp and speakers. I've been browsing that option still... was just really hoping there was a workaround to connect my HU to the factory amp.

No viable work around. Gonna have to pull the boom amp and replace it. You can get a set of DB Motos or Infinity Kappa's and a Power Acoustic RZ4.2000D amp for $300. You'll be happy with that set up.
