i installed 6.5" Hertz mille pro MPX 165.3's in the pods on my rushmore Street Glide. they sounded good but the quality seemed to fade over the last 5 months. i took the Pods out this week to figure out if i had problems, and the Surround is ripped on both speakers from 10 o'clock to 3 o'clock on each speaker.

any suggestions on a cure for this problem? i want to put this bike back together as my new speakers will be delivered soon.

PS. warranty doesn't cover it so i had to repurchase them.

 

If they aren't making contact with something to cause that damage then my best guess is UV damage. I would get some good quality speaker cloth and line the inside of the grills with it. It won't stop all sunlight from getting to them but will cut it down dramatically.

 

I take it u havent read any threads about the pods tearing apart aftermarket speakers. U will have to either install the new speakers INSIDE the pods or better yet, buy the biketronics speaker brackets and be done with it.
