Default $800 Budget 2017 SGS Any Suggestions?

Howdy!

I got great advice from you guys when I did my last system on my 2012 Street Glide so I’m hoping your willing to help again! I’ve upgraded my bike to a 17’ SGS...love the bike...stereo sucks!

I have about $800 stashed that I can use on an upgrade. I’m looking to add an amp, swap the fairing speakers and add lower fairing speakers.

I have the Biketronics Titan II’s out of the fairing of my 12 and JL Audio’s I had in the lowers... Not opposed to buying new speakers if that makes sense, although I liked how the JL,s sounded in my lowers.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Default Arc Audio MPAK kit?

Any thoughts on the Arc Audio MPAK 11 kit with the Moto 600.4 amp and 600v2 speakers? They seem to have good reviews? A little over budget but..

I'm surprised no one has jumped in here yet. The MPAK 11 Kit with the Moto 600v2 speakers is a little under powered. Sometimes I wonder if Arc even listens to these kits before they put them together. The Moto's are great speakers but they need a little more power than the 150W the 600.4 is producing. It sounds good but not great.

On an $800 budget you're gonna need the BT Brackets. $250 right off the bat. That leaves you $550. You're also gonna need the BT355 Line levelers. Subtract another $80 bucks. Leaves you $470 to purchase amp and speakers. Gonna have to step up the budget a little. The newer bikes are a little more expensive to build than the 13 and down bikes. If you like the JL's. I have the 6.5 JL C5's and the JL C3's I'll let go at a good price. That would cover your speakers. You're still gonna need a 4 channel amp to push your speakers. So the question becomes. How much do you want to spend for an amp?

Default Ouch

Guess it’s a whole new learning curve?! What are th BT brackets for?? Those are going to eat a chunk of the budget

What amp would you suggest? I’d really like to stay under $1200. I was hoping for 800 but it looks like a buddy wants a spare AR I have so that’s going to free up a little more money the wife isn’t aware of.

My last setup was a Soundstream 1000W amp, the BT Titan II’s in the fairing, JL’s in the lowers and 5x7 Kappas in the (modified!) factory bag lids...wasn’t planning on going quite that far with this one but do want a pretty decent system. No bag lids this time.

And thank you Gannicus for the advice!! My last system was basically all your suggestions and it was great!

The BT brackets eliminate the pods on the 14 and up bikes. Much cleaner sound and they allow your speakers to breathe. You could install the speakers in the stock pods and drill hole for your speakers to breathe but if it were me I'd go with the BT brackets. Amps basically come in a couple different tiers these days. There is not much more middle ground. You're either gonna get a cheaper amp in the $200 range or a quality amp in the $500-600 range. In the $200 range it won't get much better than the SS you already have. The next jump up from the SS is the Arc Moto 600.4, Hertz HDP4 or the JL 600/6. IMO the best fit for your bike is gonna be the Arc Moto 600.4.

For around $1200 you can build a killer system if you can install it yourself. 4 6.5 8 ohm PRVs in parallel and Hertz ST 25 horns up front on a Diamond Micro 4v2. $750 with a line leveler. Add another Diamond Micro for the rear on 2 PRV 8s and a PRV compression driver wired mono. $450 Add another $100 for amp kits. This rocks. Get in touch with 77 Customs they can hook you up.

Jason burned some bridges when he left the forum here.

Jason and 77 Customs have treated me fantastic. The system I have from them is nothing short of incredible. Great prices and great customer service. I judge people on how I've been treated.
Not sure what happened in the past but I am sure there are two sides to every story.
