2002 FLHT upgrade recap
Thanks for all the help along the way. Here's a recap of the low budget upgrade to my 2002 FLHT. A previous owner had added an original radio with the tape deck and fairing speakers. With a half helmet on I could actually hear it pretty good out on the road. I hated the look of the tape deck and I think the tour pak looks better with speaker pods though.
Here's what I went with:
-Jensen HD1BT-$150, used, ebay
-PN4.520d-$90, factory refurbished, ebay
-Four Rockford Fosgate p1650s-$120, ebay
-eGlideGoodies SP-1 6.5" speaker pods-$230 shipped
I spent around another hundred bucks on speaker adapters for the fairing, RCA cables, and an amp wiring kit. It sounds great compared to what was in there. If I was going to do it again, I would probably try the Matuzu speaker pods, which say they are for 5.25" speakers and run about $150. I had to enlarge the eGlideGoodies pods anyway to fit my speakers.
I also painted the fairing and changed the mirrors while I had it apart.
Ignore the red arrows, that was an old picture.
The outer fairing was a tight fit, but it is back on there now.
