New FOCAL Fairing amp 4x175w!
#391
As most folks probably know, the Focal Amp comes with a Molex connector harness that hooks directly into the factory wiring connectors (rear speakers for the 2017 Ultra require splicing however). I did originally buy the two BT355's from Biketronics. For reference my flash is stock. I just kept adjusting the amp's gains and crossover settings both with and without the line levers installed. It almost seemed that the BT355s flattened a little too much... to the point the HU bass adjustment had little or no effect. After all the tweaking, this amp it just sounded better to me without the BT355s. If I were to add anything it would probably be a DSP, but they were more than I wanted to spend on this round for a non-Pro Audio install. I did return the BT355's and Donna was great on the phone, but very curious as they almost never get them back.
I do realize that I'm probably the outlier here BT355's....

Probably have about 500+ miles on it after the install. Sounds great riding... too loud actually, makes my ears ring after a few hours on the road. May need to get ear plugs now (Ha Ha)...I only turn it up to about 1/4 to 1/3 volume at 70mph. Again, mine is not a PA install and my basis of comparison is to a stock configuration, but my riding group buds all want it on their bikes so I guess that's a testimony.

When I talked to Focal they absolutely said to install an in-line fuse. They didn't give a specific value but said it needed to be greater than 50A. I went with 60 because I had an extra from my other setup. Definitely weird that they supply the wiring without a fuse or eyelets for the battery. Easy fix, but should be included for a top tier amp.

Good luck. I sure wouldn't want to be the ginnea pig on a $700 amp. Especially after folks far more learned than myself have repeatedly tested these HU's and they all claim at a minimum you need the BT355's. Not bashing you at all brother, I just hope you understand the consequences.
