When I got mine a couple of years ago there were no holes there. I posted pics of adding the holes to mine & how much sturdier it made everything. Others started doing it also and.... I guess BT thought it was a good idea

I asked about hardware for those holes and was told they don't provide it anymore because it's not a parallel mount and they don't want to be liable for poor fitment that leads to damage. The fairing might not seat tight and water can get in. This spot is right on top off the voice coil so you know what can happen. They said it doesn't offer any better rigidity so I left well enough alone. But many have made fittings yo mount parallel with good success.

Cover those grills with treated speaker grill cloth as it will not not only provide protection but man dies it provide a real clean look.

Great job on the install!!!!

What I found when I did mine (and others that also added the holes found) was that the spacer you need between the bracket and the fairing is not the same on each side.... one needs to be thicker.

Bolting things together using those holes really adds a lot of rigidity & gets rid of the "hollow" sound in there.

Mike gave me the spacers when I bought mine at the shop and I everything seems nice and tight. No gaps on the outer fairing.

I was looking at your post & looking to do the same. I just got everything today so i am looking at this weekend to do it. Quick question: do the speakers mount right up to the bk pod eliminators or do you have to drill holes? 2ND: I have the hog-tunes speaker grills & have to drill the holes for the tweeters. How does that bracket hold them in place? 2017 street glide special 2 speaker setup only.

That makes me uncomfortable because I can get overzealous with the voulume ****! I heard Hardy1911 say that his setup was not the wall of sound he would like, but that it was more that adequate at 80MPH. I think that is a fair statement for my setup. I can hear it very well at 80MPHand over. It is not a full range full bodied sound like my old MECCA compitition car was, but it is lound and clear. You can feel the snare drum in your chest at low speeds wich is pretty awesome. I haven't had the oppurtunity to hear many high end scoot stereos yet but this has to be near the best available for the price and components.

The D4.90 is a nice little amp I like the power and the sound. It neathier adds nor takes away from the music. The one drawback for this particular setup is the crossove rgoes from 20HZ to 5KHZ that is a huge gap and very difficult to find 80HZ. In the future I would like to find someone with a Xover Calibrator and dial it in.

The AW6.5s are a nice peice of engenieering man it's impressive. I don't know if the frequency response can be believed, but D*#N it is good. The snare drum in your chest thing is worth the price of admission.

The AT28s are nice tweeters I'm not a tweeter afficinado so other than they work and are not harsh. I dont know what to say.

I hope this helps others. This is a big undertaking and not for the faint of heart. I love music it enhances my ride enough that I am willing to do all this. I'm glad I did it, and would do it again.

So what kind of watts are you running to this set up?

the holes are pre-drilled. As far as the tweeter brackets I didn't use them. I just drilled an 1 3/4" hole and then filed until they fit snugly.

When you take it apart the grills will make sense. The BT bracket has nothing to do with holding the grills. Holding the tweets should be apparent from my pics. I got my holes too large so I had to improvise but I like the result.
