Default Boom! Box 6.5GT EQ Curves - Key-On/Running

I've read a bunch of posts about 'Key-On' vs 'Running' EQ curves. Working with JL Audio and one of their TwK88 boxes it seemed like a good time to dig into it. The RTA snapshots below are right off the high-level output (no LOC - that's another bunch of tests I've done and boy is it a doozy). These are just basic Pink Noise tests and I offer them up for sheets and goggles for those who are curious as this is what I do. I'm determined to help get the best out of these systems.

Over-all not much of a difference in curves whether it's in running or accessory position. I see more of a volume curve issue (which is going to be a compromise to fix).

Your mileage may vary, this is based on a 2017 unit running v1.20.3

And for kicks here's the highest volume without clipping (which was full minus one 'bar')

Interesting. I expected much bigger differences between engine off and on.

I don't know where the claim of different EQ's came from but I'd sure like to know what version/s it was. I'm just happy its reasonably flat on high volume.

Are you saying you don't notice a difference between engine off and on? If so, take a ride with the radio at a comfortable volume level. Then at about 15 mph, shift to neutral and turn your bike off, using the main ignition switch, not the small one on the bars. You will notice the radio (and headlight, btw) will stay on and remain on until the bike gets below 3 mph. You will also notice a big difference in sound level and quality.

I only noticed this because my driveway goes downhill into the garage and my driveway is 120 ft. long so i usually just shut the bike off and coast in.

I would be interested to see if there is a difference depending on how fast the bike is moving. Damn near need to tune your stereo on a dyno these days!

There is a very noticeable running/off difference on my '15 Limited.

Can you get me your firmware version? I want to test this because maybe there's a firmware out there that's flatter over the entire volume range - albeit with a difference between running and accessory.

I have tried various firmware versions over the years, always something didn't work... fade, auto volume control.... something. I am running 19.something.... I'd have to go check. Everything works. I'm also running the old dealer flash that you can't get any more... 8 speakers, 2 amps, amps off, something like that. But the thing where the sound is noticeably different running/off was there since stock.
