If the system is all stock with no amp it's all about the antenna. location, condition, etc., If you have a class D amp in there. Different issue altogether.

It's all stock. I took the antenna off my uncles harley and put on and it didn't change things.

With stock system there are 2 locations to check and with some of the ultras of that era, there may be 3. Easiest is in the tour pack under the liner, there is a simple coax type of connector and a ground type of ring terminal to be sure are clean and tight. 2nd is where the actual antenna connects to the back of the HU or radio itself. In some cases, there is also another one that is somewhere near the battery box - fuse housing. This one is a pain to get to because of course it is behind the fuse box are kinda to the rear of the battery box. My bet is you will find a dirty - loose connection in one of these locations. Good luck and please let us know what you find to be the problem so others who search for this will find the help they are looking for.
