Default Boom Cruiser Audio Female Jack Problem

I have a Boom Cruiser on my 2007 FXSTD. It has worked for several years now but late last season it stopped working properly. If the bike is running it shorts out if I have my input jack plugged all the way in. Once I start the bike it shorts out. If I pull the male connection halfway out while it is running it works. I am guessing something inside the female connection has come loose. I was thinking about cutting the connector off and soldering a replacement on.

Has anyone seen this problem? Any suggestions before I start cutting wires? Thanks.

After extended use there is a small metal piece which contacts the male header that becomes worn down. Unfortunately, there is no way to fix the female connector unless it were say, inside on a circuit board. Since you have a wire lead, just go and buy a headphone extender cable and cut it or a female lead if you can find one at your local electronics store or on Amazon.

This one gives you extras in case you mess up and would probably be the cleanest install unless you just wanted to extend the cable.

Default Same here on M8, different fix

Mine did the same thing after installing
apes. I was terrified it was a shorter wire in the bars. I started poking around and found a pin that pulled out of a plug on the wire extensions I got from Harley. Pulled the cable and plug and the pin went right in no problem. Fixed it.
