Default Washed my bike today and ruined my amp

Not sure if there is a specific way to wash a bike with aftermarket audio components but out of habit i just washed it the way I always have, the same way i have washed other bikes with fairing mounted amps and well as the title says my amp is toast.

I never give it any thought either.... just assume water can't get up in there.

Now you got me thinking.

I have a piece of thin hard plastic cut wider and longer than the amp that sits on top of the amp velcroed to the amp. This shields the amp/wiring fromand water coming on the vent or top of the fairing.

I think the Rushmore's fairing doesn't seal as good as the 13's and down never had this issue before, im guessing that maybe it came in at the fairing vent. Oh well i was complaining about the sound quality anyway, guess now i got an excuse to redo the system.

You may be on to sumpin there as I've never had a leak on my Pre Rushmore bike. Regardless it shouldn't leak. Period.

Sorry to hear your misfortune. That sucks and thanks for the reminder to be careful with water. Now on to more important items...lets start spending that Christmas bonus and build a new system!!!

That sucks. Sorry that happened.

Every time I wash mine, I run as strip if electrical tape where the fairing meets the windshield. Ive always been scared of this happening.

After my last amp went to crap I noticed I had a few water spots on top of it and my kappas were a little wet.. Since then I just use a wet rag to clean the front fairing and windshield, I haven't done it but you could try a thing weatherstripping to help solve the issue.. I assume your in Houston, never know when we will get rain here lol

This has become a pretty big issue. Arc is now supplying a plastic moisture cover for their amps in their MPAK kits for 14+ Streetglides and Ultras.

I use Plastic page dividers and double sided tape I get at Staples and trim them to fit.

Attached are the photos from Arcs install instructions

Next amp is going in the saddle bag, not taking any chances.
