Aquatic AV HU w/Hawgwired Amp
My HK oem headunit is acting up and lacks some functions that's I'd like so it's getting the boot. Been looking at the Aquatic AV head unit (AQ-MP-5UBT-H) to mate with my Hawgwired DCS-120 amp, DX 504/70 speakers and GTX-150 gauge tweeter pods. Has anyone run this set up in the past or similar? Curious about performance/sound and compatibility and ease of set up of the Aquatic AV. Thanks.

The Aquatic is the easiest H/U in the world to install. Simple plug and play. Not sure how it will sound with Hawgwired amp. I would think it should hook up the same as with the HK since it's all factory wiring.
But if you upgrade to the Aquatic, I would suggest switching amps. You will be able to get way more bang for your buck since you will be able to easy connect other types of amps. JMO.

What would you suggest for an amp? Aquatic claims a 288w built in amp in thier head unit.

when i first installed aquatic and 4 kappa speakers, it was night and day difference in volume from stock hu, but then added an amp, 150w x 4 at 2 ohm to match my speakers and again, night and day difference, so match an amp with tge speakers you want to run and have fun

It's all about how much you want to spend and then match up the amp with the speakers. I would highly suggest upgrading speakers, especially since you are running 5.25". You will get way more sound and quality out of a 6.5's. The infinity Kappa's are great speakers, especially for the price. Polk also makes great, affordable 6.5's.

Decided to change directions a bit. Went with the Kappas 6.5. Will there be any fitment issues with the install on a 2007 Street Glide? I have the original mesh screens and mounting bracket. Old speakers were spliced into the Hogtunes amp wiring harness which will be removed. I'll be installing an amp later in the year so for now it will be just the Aquatic AV head unit and the kappas with a set of Hawgwired gauge mounted tweeter pods. Is there any secrets or special tools etc that I'll need to make this happen?

That's a good start! You will need adaptors (5.25 to 6.5) for the speakers. Cheap and easy to install. Honestly, I would even run the tweeters, you can try, but the Kappas are good enough. You could also throw in a cheap amp (Rockford PBR300x2) that will push those Kappas good and get you good sound at highway speeds.
