In very simplistic caveman speak each speaker is essentially a channel so if u have 6 speakers u would need 6 channels available on an amp. Now in some cases if the speakers are similar in ohms (4) and sensitivity (within a couple) u can piggy back (parallel) 2 speakers on one channel thus u can get away with 6 speaks on a 4 channel amp.

Very simple explanation but before u buy anything post it up and get it vetted by the gang.
