Default Kenwood / bt1005x speaker crackling?

accidentally posted in the main touring forums, trying to install a kenwood KMMBT315U with a bt1005x retro radio kit but i'm getting a lot of crackling at higher volume. i don't know if i have a bad biketronics kit or a bad radio or bad wires. anyone have suggestions?

here's a video of my problems.

What's the rest of your setup? You still running stock speakers or aftermarket speakers and amp?

Ok the trouble with what your attempting to do is your components don't match. The radio is a 4ohm unit and the stock speakers are 2ohm. How long have you been running it this way?

That may not be what's causing your issues at the moment but it's not doing it any good either. Try to get your hands on some 4ohm speakers just to hook up and test it to make sure.

i pulled a speaker out of my truck door and wired it in to the factory harness. the crackling was still there but i could turn the unit up by about 10 more before it started. would it be safe to assume that if i had another 4 ohm speaker connected drawing power it would also help?

quick update. got some cheap-o schoche speakers from the mart and installed them real quick. these are rated at 4ohm. same problem is occurring, but the speakers sound better at lower volume.

yeah, i'll post a pic in just a minute. everything is wired as it should be. the only thing not wired in are the rear speakers, and i plan on saving that for later when i add my tour pack back on.
