Now that I have this fancy distortion detector gadget I used it to reset my D4 amp. I ran the 1khz -5db tone and the gains are set about a 1/4 turn higher than previously set.

When I went to set the gains on the NVX, no clipping was detected at all. Is that possible or did I do something wrong?

I haven't tried the SS amp yet.

I'm setting these with the volume 3 spots from full.

Every amplifier clips. You did something wrong.

 

SgtMic, where are you placing the probes on the amp? I use the method described in the manual with both probes connected to the speaker outputs.
Red to speaker (+) and Black to speaker (-)
Are you bridging the NVX?

 

Yes to all the above. LOL
I also tried red to - and black to + since the manual states some multi channel amps push power through the - side.

 

I suspect it's probe placement on the NVX. I haven't used the DD-1 on a bridged amp so maybe somebody that has can chime in.

 

I got home from work and it seems to be working.
Except now my Ipod won't play sound through the speakers.
It must be a Monday. LOL
