Default Fairing lowers with speakers - question

I know they are not OEM, probably won't be able to tell once they are mounted on the bike.

Thinking about these lowers with speakers: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lower-Vented...RXgLIG&vxp=mtr

1. Are the speakers ok? or just crap?

2. How to cover the speaker so it has some protection from rain, etc.

Thanks.

The lowers are good to go but you don't want those speakers.

I followed a similar plan maybe three years ago and bought eBay lowers w/speakers. the Speakers were laughable and went straight in the trash. The lowers themselves however have held up well and I'd buy them again without question. There are many good 6.5's that are cheap and far superior to those supplied with the lowers. Sometimes grills are a problem, depending on speaker brand. Another thing, in the three years I've had them on, rain has not affected my speakers regardless of which ones I've had in there. If you like good tunes, get some. You won't be sorry (well, you probably won't like the mounting hardware).

Can you recommend some good 6.5 speakers?

Check out my friend Haze's New products thread. About the 4th or 5th pic down he's got a set of Tempesta speakers in the lowers fresh out of the test lab. Not very expensive speakers. This guy is a audio perfectionist. Trust me. I'd say they are excellent speakers in the lowers. Check em out!

If you're not a fan of pro audio speakers a set of Infinity Kappa's (62.11i) in that location will do the trick. Because the lowers are so far away from your ears. You need speakers in that location that are VERY LOUD!! What we have found in all the test we have performed is the pro audio speakers work best in that location. The thing is finding a good set that will fit!
