Most of these settings are intended as guidelines. Experiment with the crossover settings to what sounds best to you. I'm not sure what you mean by compressed? The 7.1s should sound good but on the bright side. How did you set the gains, by ear or using a DMM. I would also check the speaker wiring to make sure that the polarity is correct.

There's a sticky at the top of the forum that makes setting amps pretty easy with a DMM. Last week when we were setting pdevore's amps, we set the first one properly with a DMM. For fun, I decided to "eyeball" the gain on the next three channels of the dual 4v2s before hooking up the DMM just to see how close I could get it. I was not close. The DMM won't lie to you. Your eyes and ears most certainly will.

While the fairing is off check the gains using a DMM as Chris mentioned.

So the polarity is good. I played around with the gains and it all sounds the same.

I am going to pull the fairing in a little while and tune with a dmm. What test tone is recommended? Is a thumb drive ok or should I burn it to a cd? Also, do I set the user eq to all zeros?

Thanks for any input
