Default Diamond HXM 800.4 whats the verdict!

I have been waiting for some one to review this amp! I want to know how it compares to the Arc 600.4 and the 4180, amps that fit under hood! I was hoping the usual suspects (guru's) would have used this amp by now, and given us a comparison! I know Jonathan (BAB) was going to use 2 of them on his new build. So do you need to use an amp bracket to mount this amp under the hood on a pre 14 SG, does it perform as well or better than the 2 amps mentioned ect! Anybody using this amp, whats the verdict! Pictures of it mounted on a pre 14 SG and video's of how it sounds would be nice!!!

Check out Michigan Matts thread titled Diamond HXM 800.4. Has pics of amp sitting on the tray but not sure about the reasoning behind the plywood unless he needed to elevate due to the stock tray design?
No performance evaluation yet, but keep an eye on that thread.

Hey T, whats up bro...I did see Matt's thread, but I think his amp is the 800.2 ! I'm keeping an eye on that as well. I don't know if the 800.4 & 800.2 are the same size!

Mike same size iirc betweeen the 800.2/800.4. I am with Haze. For the cost vs size I am out. Only 1 is not enough so it would be a bag amp for me. If I was to bag amp the hdp4 far surpasses the output. I just refuse to take up bag space personally. I bought my bagger to carry stuff, example 4 6 packs will fit and still have room in the stretch for all my glasses cases and such. Throw any speaker/amp in there besides the lids and that space is too valuable to consume. The 800.2 would do well for Matt's application, but so will many other options.

I was looking at that 800/2 as well - for now I'll just keep my bridged JL 400/4 and let them rock my Hertz speaker pods (thanks Todd for the crossover info - got the Dynomat being shipped this week for the fairing)

I am going on the assumption that the 800.4 is way under speced (producing 30 to 40% more than specs). Of the 3 amps I am considering they are all in the same ball park money wise, 4180, Arc 600.4 and the 800.4! In fact I can get the 800.4 the cheapest, I really want gains so its probably Arc or diamond! BAB got 167 from the 800.4 but then I saw where Slye said it was dynamic power instead of continuous! Does that mean it is not 167 rms, Diamond also said it was underrated! (Monday night football tonight...Go Bears)

Gann has one coming. If he has a dummy load and scope he can test it at running voltage and see how it does. Measuring with a load on a test tone vs measuring while playing dynamic music will yield different results. I have not seen a CEA rating on the Diamond. This is CEA rating standards
Express output power as watts RMS
Measure with 14.4V DC supply
Utilize testing under a 4-ohm load
Have 1% or less total harmonic distortion in the amplifier’s output. I wouldn't rely solely on CEA rating but they set a standard benchmark for output to be what you pay for if they are compliant.
I am not saying anything negative on any Diamond Amp. They seem well built and a favorite of many installers. Until PAS mag or someone does a controlled test I am hesitant to rely on the under rated factor. The day of the Cheater amps are really far gone BUT I can say a place called ZUKI audio builds amps with ratings of 3-5 watts but actually puts out well over the 100 range per channel.
