I need to understand some basics I suppose. I want to be able to add saddlebag speakers in the future so I need to know what size or type amp can power the fairing speakers and saddle bag speakers

If you'renot trying to sell anything then join the forum discussion and discuss....it's what we do here!

What recommendations would you have for a guy like him on a Rushmore who's thinking about a 4 channel amp and some speakers?

I didn't mean to be rude by any means. I apologize if that's how it came across. I have already tried to recommend a setup once. As you can tell that comment is no longer here because it was deleted. I got in trouble. But hell I will try again.

Diamond 4 channel amp
Hertz 6.5 speakers in the fairing
BT 355 line lever

That combo does the trick everytime.

I've not been offended by anything you have said. I've even started googling the brands you have mentioned because I am not familiar with any brand vs the next

There is a ton of other options. That is just what works the best in my opinion for what you stated your looking for.

AHHH The Basics!! Most important component in your set up is going to be the speakers.
Purchase quality speakers rated at 90db and up with an RMS rating from 75-100 watts.
Biketronics, Hertz, Focal, infinity and Polk are all great choices.

Secondly you will need a class D amp to push said speakers. Amps can range anywhere from $100 to $800 bucks. A lot depends on whether or not you listen to FM radio.
If you listen to FM the amp your purchase will be normally be on the high end of the spectrum if you want to do it right and do it once.

The exception is the Rockford Fosgate PBR300X2 two channel amp. Its affordable and you will not lose reception with this amp. However, it's a two channel amp. If you are going to add speakers in the lids or the bags you will need a 4 channel amp. As Badazz suggested the Diamond 4 channel is an option but I'm not sure you are guaranteed to keep your FM.

The tried and true 4 channel amps for keeping FM are the Arc amps and the Biketronics amps. The Rockford Fosgate TM400X4ad is also a good option. These two areas are a good place to start. Once you decide what components you want to go with and how much you want to spend. The set up is cake.

good information! Ive been googling around. the bike tronics has a 6.5 and a 7.1" speaker. 100 vs 120 watt. would the 7.1 still fit in my road glide? is there that much difference between the 2, its only like a $70 difference in price.

The only thing I would have to disagree with is in my opinion....your setup is only as strong as its weakest component. Great speakers with a not so good amp will still have not so good sound and vise versa. When trying to upgrade audio I would always recommend to get good quality stuff once and be done.

That being said there are many different combos that work very well together.
