What just happened.???
Kenwood kmrd765bt,SS pn4.1000d, Arc audio 6.2 ,13 flhx......Ok..here is the story.I bought a new kenwood head unit last week.installed it everything was great.I bought a smd dd-1 so I could dial in amp gains better.got dd1 today read instructions,found levels on head unit,then amp and head unit together,set hu to 34 out of 35,amp gain was set at about 1/4,the first mark on gain ****....great,cuz gain was at bout 11 o clock,hu volume was at 26 of 35.turned volume down to 0 ,thought great,less gain ,cleaner signal...eject cd , turn off power at switch,hook up speaker wires back to amp correctly, dbl check, turn on power,turn on hu and smoke out of left speaker and popping....wow what just happened ? , hu unit volume was 0, amp gains are at 1/4..what happened ..????

Smoke from a speaker usually means burned out voice coil. If not while producing loud audio then is typically from strong DC offset like +12v.
To be honest, I could not follow the installation description. I have a nearly identical (non-marine) Kenwood in my truck and these have 4v preamp outs. With SS and Arc Audio amps, why didn't you use preamp output from Kenwood? It will be cleaner than the built-in amp output.
