Default Digital Music?

I'm currently working getting stuff together to upgrade the stereo on my FLTRU 2016 Road Glide and a thought came to mind. Some songs sound much better on my stock stereo than others. Some are louder and clearer than others. Most of what I listen to are on USB drives.

So, were does the quality of a digital recording come into play. Much of what I like to listen to was published long before digital recording became the norm.

Most of the music I have came from the old music sharing services and I have no idea what the quality of those recording are. I Prob have over 2000 songs.

Download mp3gain converter and change them to 93 db's and see if that helps you! That did the trick for me.

Your old music is probably really low quality recordings, the shared stuff was all low quality to keep the file sizes down.

Best bet is to either buy the CD and reburn it, or buy a new copy of the songs you like best from amazon, google or any of the other music sources now.

You'll want 256kbps or 320kbps (the best), your old stuff is probably 128kbps or less. You can right click>properties>details to see the quality of your mp3 in windows.

mp3gain works great to adjust the volume levels but there is NO WAY to make a low quality rip into a high quality rip.

Let me know when your out and about, maybe we can meet up and I can show you some of what I have done.

I also run my songs through mp3gain. I don't have a problem with quality, just the volume would change from song to song and this evened it out fairly good.

Thank all that responded. I have learned a little more than I knew before. I'll have to check threw my music and check some KBPS but many I have checked are in the 128 kbps range. But some are in the high range. I funny that I can hear deficiencies in a song at 80 mph on a screaming Harley with my old ears.

With the new amp and speakers I wonder what ill hear.
