I would think you would loose a lot without the 4.3 HU, you set up a lot of stuf through the HU, like intercom on/off and vox, enable/disable parade mode, oil pressure and air temp, plus a bunch of stuff I can't think of right now.

Good points, but very few use the intercom (if they even have it), very few people even know what parade mode is, oil pressure maybe...but air temp is pretty useless...not sure about the other stuff. The nav is one of the worst I've ever used.

My view is why spend 800-1k on a factory dinosaur unit that fights audio quality, when for the same or less you can have a full featured unit with up to date technology? Or for under $500 have the BT kit with a single dine top of the line radio and use your phone for nav...

If you're willing to keep the hardwired system, J&M Audio makes the 787 Elite series headset. I'm still tweaking the system to get optimal VOX and mic settings, but audio is significantly improved over the HD stock headset.

ok, please take your own advice too.
Tell me a reason other then "it sounds so much batter'' that you think stock 6.5 is so bad? Sound quality is great for garbage speakers, nav is just fine, all the bike infor, intercom, XM radio, and on and on.
Just like the guys wanting to upgrade their suspension and when you ask them why all you hear back is this limp dick non answers like "well I feel like this and that". Nothing concrete, just bunch of feelings. Haven't got a clue how spring rate, rebound and dampening effect traction and ride quality, but want to go out and drop $1,700 on front forks just to have bragging rights.
No reason at all to change out 6.5. Speakers, yes, head unit, you are kidding me.
