Kappas are ordered. Should arrive Saturday along with the B4. Looks like i will need it after all since the Kappas are 2ohm. How are they concerning being weatherproof? They're very popular, but nothing noted as being marine speakers.

The biggest difference maker was when I did the radio pre-calibration reset. Talk about waking it up! I tuned the B4 after the radio reset and it is a whole different system. The thing fricken ROCKS now!

As a note on previous comments, I do not need to bridge or run 2ohm. So in my case is there really much of a difference? Spoke too soon. See below.
what speakers are you running in fairing? my cvb54 makes 4 kappas scream all day long. set gains to 200w per channel at 75% volume. love it

yooper, how are you getting 200w per channel from that amp? I though it was rated at 120w x 4 @2ohm.

Deputy -- with regard to the two amps, not all watts are created are equal. Some sound significantly better than others. Think of the same volume of someone screaming or some crystal clear singing. One just sounds better.

set gains at 20.0v with DMM
according to the sticky chart, should be 200w

Ah gotcha, thanks....yes 150w x 4.

Then at 200w there's likely distortion. I would back those gains down. You may not hear while traveling 80mph and wanting that extra volume, but your speakers will feel it and during a long ride of a few hours, that's not a good recipe.

You can crank the gains on an amp to MAX, you can raise you the radio volume to MAX and take a VAC reading but that's not measuring distortion. There's a reason why you match the chart to the specs, OR use a scope to do it properly.
