Radio Trouble shooting

UPDATE!!! Radio Trouble shooting
I'm having a problem with my radio. I haven't had a chance to
really tear into it yet but would like to benefit fromyou good folks
knowledge and experience before I do. I hate pulling that fairing...I'd
like to have a good battle plan before I do.
Ihave a 2011 Road Glide. It still has thestock HK radio head unit
but I added a Rockford Fosgate PBR 300X2 and Infinityspeakers. It's been
working great for about 18 months now. Last week on a road trip up to West
Virginia the radio sound started cutting out. Radio, CD and AUX/IN.The
head unit still had power, just no sound. The sound would be off for an
indeterminate amount of time...2, 5, 20, minutes or sothen come back and
play for an equally indeterminate amount of time, then gosilent again. As
of last night it sat in the garage and played flawlesslyfor at least an
hour before I ran out if time so vibration may be afactor.
Ofcourse the first thing I thought of is a connection is lose, but
I kinda don't think so. In my mind a lose connection would chatter off/on
more/quicker. Whenthis stops and starts producing sound it is a clean,
definitive stop an start. I tried to see if riding over bumps would cause
it to change...sometimes it did, others it didn't.
Ofcourse I'll go over all the connections again anyway, but after
that, anybody got any experience or suggestions on whereto go from there?
Does this sound like an amp going out or is thissomething the stock HK head
unit has been known to do? It wouldn't break my heart to upgrade thehead
unit, but not if I don't have to. While the amp is located in the fairing,
I made sure to leave plenty of room on all sides forair. The temps were in
the 60s when the radio started having problems, believeme I've ridden in
much hotter.
Sowhat do y'all think?Other than thepossible bad connection does
this sound more like an amp or radio problem?

Sounds like more trouble shooting is needed. Few things to check, and yes, need to remove the fairing. Of course all the simple connections, and GROUNDS are very important. Also if you can get it to act up, watch the light on the amp, it tells a lot about what the amp is doing. I had close to the same stuff going on with mine and took forever to figure out but it ended up being the switch had somehow got kinda stuck between AP and HP. I cant come up with any other ideas without tearing in a little farther... Let us know what you find.

UPDATE!
Checked all the battery connections, everything looked/felt good. Resided myself to the fact I had to pull the fairing (sigh). Took all of 5 minutes to have the fairing off...why does it take 10 times as long to put it back on ????? Anyway, checked all the connections under there. Everything looked/felt good. Turned the radio on and it played...that figures. Started massaging cables with no ill effect. Figured all that was left was the bump check. Started tapping the radio all over with the handle of a screwdriver. After about 10 taps...it went off. Tapped about 20 times and it came back on. Tapped about 12 times it went off. 2 taps and it came back on. Didn't seem to matter where I tapped it. I think I found my culprit. During lulls at work I kind of did some comparison shopping and I think I've decided to let Iron Cross Audio fix this unit and perform a Aux and Bluetooth upgrade. Anyway, thanks to those that offered some help. I really do appreciate it.
