update to my system installed hertz hcx 165

Ok, so here's a newbe question. The hcx are rated at 200w max, is that each or the pair? A example, a bridged b54 is 300x2 meaning 300 each channel, 600 total. So then it would put out more than the speaker is rated. Would you then use the speaker rating to determine the voltage to set the amp at?

My concern is that if the rms of the amp exceeds the rms and peak rating of the speaker, do you still set the same? Seems like that would overload the speaker.

you typically take a speaker and take 1.75 of the rms value for the rms it is capable of with a clean signal. This is once gain set with dmm ear tuning comes into play. You know not to exceed the point you set with dmm. If components are matched correctly there is no need of concern really. It's when you are pushing the bar as far as possible accuracy is needed. Not many doing quite that. I believe I am the first to push the arc moto 600.4 bridged. So a 150w rms amp on a set of 100w rms speakers is fine as long as signal is clean. Peak is irrelevant really.
