Curious if anyone can tell me if it's twice as good as the CV B52 or if anyone would even notice the difference between them both going down the road at 70 mph because per the JM website link the price is $550 which ends up being $440 with the 20% discount. The CV B52 is $180 on amazon. Just sayin...
I think in this case the question by the OP was, what is a good amp for a set of Hertz HCX 165's. So with that being the focus, lucky for me is that I've had those speakers and have had them connected to a B52, Arc 600.4, BT 4180, PN4.1000D, Hertz HDP4, and the list goes on. I would say that Slyedog nailed it, the 150w mark for those speakers is on the money. Each of the amps I just listed made those speakers sing, in contrast I also had an Arc 125.2 and the 75w however "clean" they were, was not enough to hear those speakers at speeds. Being that the JM amp advertised above is rated at 165w at 2ohm, for some reason they don't publish the 4ohm specs (maybe I missed them) I would assume that amp puts out less than 100w at 4ohm? If so, I'd recommend going with something with more juice behind it like the Cerwin B52 or the amp Sly is selling that is a the same amp as the B52 at it's core with some upgrades to the internal components.
