JL HX280/4 Amp Setup?
Hello, I am installing some Polk Speakers and JL amp in a friends 13 Limited. I've had a few issues with the install like having to go get converter boxes for the RCA jacks. The RCA connections were low in volume the you press on the and they get loud. I did some adjusting the wires and they are loud now all the time. I just hope vibrations don't mess with them.
Anyway, I have never set up a amp and was curious if anyone can give me some info on the settings. I'm running it 4 channel. It had ohm settings, gain and a filter of some sort.
Here is a link to the amp.

Should not happen!
Not sure what you adjusted but we need to make dam sure the adjustment has corrected those issues permanently!! Don't need any of that on a bike! As you stated too much vibration for that type of stuff.
Is this a 2 or 4 speaker system?
What model Polks are you using?
The answer to these two questions will help us.
Okay getting to your adjustment question:
1. Set the input voltage on low since you are using RCA's. This is known as low level input.
2. Filter Mode should be on HP or better known as High Pass.
3. Filter Frequency should be set on 80hz for starters.
4. Last but not least the Input sensitivity (better known as gain) should be set by the Ultranutz sticky at the top of the page by ear. I could run you through the procedure but it's all right there in the Ultranutz sticky. Very detailed and accurate I might add.
If you have any more questions we are all here to help.

lhgdale,
Did you ever figure out the settings? I purchased the same amp and want to know where to set it. I tried the test tone/multimeter method and it seems decent. Just wanted to know if my settings were close to someone else.
Both front and rear gains are set to about the 10 o'clock position. I set the frequency to 80.
Set on 4 channel with filter set to all pass.
Thanks
