Default Discussion: Watts, Amp Draw, Power, Charging System; Efficiency

I've seen a few post and trend recently on bridging amps to get more "power", folks have started getting creative and running more than one map. So if two is better than one, is three better than two? Hoping some of the smart guys like Ride my Seesaw will jump in and share with some engineering knowledge. I think if collectively we are trying to get our bikes to sound better it goes far beyond matching this speaker with that amp and calling it day. So lets chat power...

1. How much power (watts) can our charging systems produce?

2. If we have a limit of a 50a charging system and my two amps are rated a 40a draw (equals 80) does this fry my system, cook my voltage regulator, or simply they don't produce the amount of rated power than I thought they did.

3. When bridging an amp to 4ohm mono, it is essentially the same as 2ohm stereo. How much less efficient is it at 2ohm, and do I lose SQ?

Thank you for starting this thread. It will definitely help me answer the questions of ideas I get running through my head, like running parallel at 500Wx2 @ 2ohm.

Definitely want to learn as much as I can.

Haze did you start this thread just for me??? I have long been a "anything less then overkill is under achievement" type of person. The minute my Moto 692's hit the deck I'll be bridging them off a SS PN4.1000D and using the Vega B52 I got from you to power my BT7.1 fairing speakers.

Will I achieve overkill????

Or just kill something????

Lou, my honest opinion --- I think you're fine with those two amps.

BUT that's the point of this very thread. How do we know based on numbers, specs, and charging system capacity.

Exactly! I mean, could I run 3 amps bridged? Or even 2 bridged with one regular? Would love the thought to get more sound...but will I?

I have everything up and running. The B52 has noticeably better SQ thru the BT 7.1's vs the PN4.1000D. I'm taking it easy on the MOTO 692's at least for now, let em loose up a bit, then I'll hammer them.
