I searched for photos of installs but only could find newer stuff. I just can't seem to get it to fit. Connections right up against the uprights. Seems like no room for wires.

Do I need to cut the upright brackets on each side of the radio? x

I have a Kenwood X998 in the Metra kit so it does slide in to the gauges. I will figure a way to secure it once I know I can hook it up.

Wire the amp first. Then slide it in. The RCA'S are going to prevent you from sliding the amp all the way back to the gauges on one side. So the amp will appear pushed too far out on that side but the fairing will slide on with ease. The RCA's will rest on the black vertical bracket.
