Default 2014 Rushmore SG Speaker Question

I have the non-nav head unit and am runing the Rockford PBR300x2 amp. I was running the Infinity Kappa's but due to clearance issues (the cone surround pressed against the sleaker cover) the speakers have both failed.

I have been looking at replacements but want to make sure that the speaker is offset enough to avoid the same issue as I had with my Kappas. I am looking at the Biketronics BT477 6.5" and also the Titan II 6.5" (not sure how different these are) and BT is going to see if they clear by test fitting them on a bike (can't say enough good things about their support). I am also looking at the Arc Audio Moto 602 V2 but it looks like I will have the same issue as the Kappa's with the surround coming out further than the frame.

Then...there is the BT7P14 7.1" speaker with the bracket that replaces the Pods.

So, I am hoping someone can help me out by answering the following:

1. When mounted in the Pods, do the Biketronics 6.5" speakers clear the fairing and speaker cover?
2. Same Question for the Moto 602
3. Is it worth the extra $250 for the upgrade to the 7.1".

Before my Kappas crapped out they did sound really good...good bass and I could listen at a comfortable volume at speed. I would like to have better sound but believe that with the setup I have paying more for speakers will not necessarily result in better sound.

Thanks for any input, my bike is torn down so I can't ride until I figure out what I want and get it installed.

Rocket, I would not consider the Arc 602's or the 7P1's if you are going to use the PBR300X2. Not enough behind that amp to make those speakers sound what they cost.

Have you considered mounting the speakers on the inside of the pods?
I am running the KAPPAS and have them mounted inside the pods which gave them tones of clearance to the grills.

Heard mixed reviews on that method. Do you have a port in the pods for better air flow?

I have the Moto 602's mounted on the outside of my pods with a 3" port with no issues. I am using the stock grill.

BT guy said it would have no problem pushing the 7.1's.

"can" it push them. Yes.....but it won't sound that great is what I'm trying to tell you. Those 250.00 speakers won't sound what they are worth. So essentially your tossing money in the wrong direction. Can it work, and does it sound good are two different things man.

Tried the port and poly fill with no success
Remove the hole rear of the pod

Maybe just buy the bt brackets and another set of the Kappa's. Even with aftermarket grills, your kappas will get damaged by the pods if u stay with them.

I was going to order the BT BRACKETS but I was on a shoe string budget at the time.

If the speakers are centered in the opening of the pod from the inside no damage should should be done
