I bit the bullet and bought the 7.1's with the brackets. At least then that part is done. Can always play around with different amps later. OR.....get the entire Biketronic package and be totally done.

I would say, that is not really mounted "in" a pod. I saw one of your other posts about making the bracket. Good deal if you have the equipment to do that. I am leaning towards the 7.1 with the brackets but want some more feedback. Going from a 6.5" to a 7.1" shouldn't make that much difference and the quality is not as relevant at 70mph. I don't expect perfect clarity and advanced quality of sound, just need something I can enjoy while going down the back roads.

Well there was no special equipment used to make the brackets other than a tape measure, vice and hammer.

If you split the pods and mount the speakers to the inside they will look like the way the speakers in the picture are minus the fabbed mounts I can remove the mounts and put the rear half of the pods back on and bolt everything back up Stock in about 30 min. If I wanted to.

The newer B52 has 50 more watts per channel. I think it would push the 7.1's just fine.

I've had both and a 4180. For the price either Cerwin makes those speakers sound fantastic.

The whole point of my question was to find speakers that would work with the PBR300x2 and not hit the speaker covers. Not looking to get a new amp.

I understand. Just not sure why you are trying to build a system around that amp.

So, to answer your questions..

1. I don't know
2. I don't know
3. YES!

Already have the system installed, just had speakers fail. I finally did what Babyboy said, went to CarToys and got another set of Kappas, modified the pods so the speakers mount flush inside the pods, checked clearance and sealed any leaks. Oh, added polyfill in the boxes too. Got installed and it sounds better than before. Guess the surround binding up on the speaker cover had some negative affect. Either way, its back together and I am only $120 lighter in my wallet.

I wish you lived closer, I would really like to hear a side by side comparison. After sealing the boxes with silicone and adding polyfill mine sounds better than ever. I am pretty happy with the results and glad I went with your suggestion to mount inside the boxes. No worries about rubbing at all.
