Its just as rigid as before I cut it. .. It's no different than buying that $279 aluminum one. All the points are still tied together, and the piece that was cut out really didn't do anything. Stiff as a board.. I could have cut a little more out at the top. Oh, and after you cut it, deburr it with a razor blade, then hit the edges with one of those torch lighters you can buy for $5 at the gas station, smooths it right out and gets rid of all the little stringys... Not that you will see them....

3200 Miles from Detroit to Florida and back, 10 states in all, every road condition imaginable, brackets held up fine... Loctite on the screws in my amp wiring connections are the only thing that I found I needed... Kept coming loose every couple of days. Had the fairing off 3 times on the road to keep the radio going... Great trip, and my tunes were cranking! A guy riding behind me about 1/4 of a mile asked me what the hell I did to my bike, because at 80 on the freeway, all he heard was my radio, no exhaust sound from the pack we were in, he had to turn his radio up full volume to not hear mine! Love it!

Also curious about sound difference. I have Polk mm652 and b52 amp and seems pretty easy to just retain all mounting points and cut out the back for some more air.
edit: from a friend who’s an audio engineer i was told not to because he says need to keep back wave separate. Idk what that means.

A little older post and thought I would bring it back up. Anyone else try this? I sent a couple messages to the guys who did it. But, is everything still holding up or any issues. How is the sound quality? Did you test it with the new before tearing it apart and after with the new speakers? Thnx
