Thanks Mike. Do you by chance have the 998 audio setting you use for the BT speakers?

Haze gave me some tips and pointed me to this thread which has setting much closer to my setup. I didn't have time to mess with the EQ much so picked "Rock" out of all the presets. And I must say it sounds better than it did last night.
If it ever stops raining I'll get it out and make another video.

Bert, I still am playing with my settings on this HU. I see where you like the Rock preset EQ, thats a good one to start with. I think you can over empathize certain frequencies and the sound at least on my set up (Focal KPS"s in fairing, Titan II 6.5 in lowers and tour pak pods, and HAT 6x9's in lids) gets a little sisss..aley sounding. I don't think for example you can use the Rock preset EQ and then also use the drive EQ. I am a believer that artist's put a lot of time and energy into producing their music, flat is how they wanted you to hear it! When you have a good stereo I always start playing the music flat and then tweak it a bit. If you use the Natural preset and just increase the volume you can get to a balanced sound that sounds a lot like a GREAT live band! Anyway that being said on the bike here's what I have it set on right now..Drive EQ on, Preset on natural, Car type compact, Pro through (on), Front speaker- door- 6.75- X-over 70, -12 slope -1 gain TW large, (I have components) Rear speaker, door, 6x9- X-over 60, -12 slope -1 gain. I also have run the Rock pre set and turned off the drive Eq, and I also have taken the rock Eq and tweaked it a bit by smoothing out the frequency's that were too high or too low (made it a little flater) and turned on the Drive EQ. My ears can't take extreme highs (sizzaley, shrill.. I want a symbol to sound like a symbol not a sizzle. Since I can only produce mid bass with the speakers on the bike I don't like to emphasize the lower bass notes especially on the road. That being said when I'm parked in the garage or when I'm showing off my stereo to someone I'll through it on the powerful EQ to give it that wow factor! Hope any of this helps! Also turn off the internal amp.

Thanks for the detailed response Mike and yes it helps. I like the idea of keeping the Live music sound. The Rock preset sounded good inside. What I was hoping to do is pick a preset that sounds good on the road to get me started and tweak from there. Drive EQ is currently On, so if I understand you correctly, turning it Off will allow me to view and tweak a preset? Not knowing much about EQ settings I need to study up on them.

Okay Bert, the best way to explain this is...start with drive EQ off and set Pre set EQ to Natural which will be flat. Then listen to your HU at say 18 volume, then increase volume to 22 sound will become more "alive", all frequencies across the spectrum will increase. Then turn volume back to 18 and put on Drive equalizer volume will increase and also different frequencies will also be empathized (some highs and lows). Then turn off Drive EQ and change pre set to say Rock, then go to the manual EQ, you will see what frequencies are boosted or lowered to achieve that particular sound. Then go to say Powerful pre set go back to manual EQ and notice what frequencies are boosted or lowered to achieve that particular sound. Now go back to natural Pre set EQ and put on Drive EQ and go back to manual EQ even though the sound changed with the Drive EQ you will notice the manual EQ doesn't change, I don't know exactly what the Drive Eq changes as far as frequencies but it does boost some highs and lows to compensate for road noise. The 998 manual show a graph showing what the Drive EQ does. My whole point is say you use the Rock pre set then put on the Drive EQ you can get TOO MUCH EMPATHIZE OF CERTAIN FREQUENCIES THAT CAUSE THE SOUND TO BECOME UN NATURAL ie to sizzzz-aley for instance with the sounds of the voice or symbols! Whew... hard to explain but I think you get the point!

Bert - Awesome set up! Did you wrap the speakers in polyfill?

Also curious why you didn't have an Aquatic unit on the short list?

Thanks!

Yes I get to point. I could had read the entire manual I would not have gotten this info out of it. Thanks for putting in the effort Mike.

Doing some experimenting I found that pre-set Natural with Drive EQ On sounds good with more volume. And pre-set Jazz with Drive EQ Off sounds better. When I get around creating a User EQ it will probably be something in between.

Yes, two Mille Pros. The J&M matting glued to the inside of the fairing was already there.

Also curious why you didn't have an Aquatic unit on the short list?

Thanks!
It just didn't come up.

Used pre-set Jazz with Drive EQ Off. Volume is the same as the last video at 22. Sound better to than the User EQ I made. Here's the Take 2
