Default biketronics 7.1 questions

2012 sg. Plan is for two pbr300x2 on two biketronics 7.1.

The BT speakers came with grilles. I like the stock look. Do the BT allow the sound to pass through better? Can you see the plastic BT grille holes once they are mounted?

I read some people put foam between the adapter ring and fairing? Otherwise it rattles? I'm not clear on exactly what kind of foam and where.

I also read to avoid polyfilling the back of the speakers?

1. Use the grills, the holes face the speakers...all you you see is cloth facing the out. The sit snug and fitted to the adaptors.

2. The foam is for the rushmores that required the metal bracket. The adaptor rings for the 13 and below will sit perfect with no rattles

3. The scoop is the polyfill makes more of a difference on lesser quality speakers and is not needed on higher quality speakers. I used 1-2 thin layers on both 7.1 and 7.1 Pros and thought the low end came in better with less distortion.

Polyfill makes a difference for speakers in small non ported enclosures to make the speaker react if it were in a larger enclosure.
BT speakers take advantage of the fairing being neither small and are basically ported and use the larger volume of air to breathe

Just for clarification, are you using the 2 PBRs on 2 sets of 7.1s or just on 2 speakers total?

The PBR 300x2 is a nice entry level amp that tends to keep FM reception and works great with 2 ohm speakers, but 1 of them won't drive a set of 4 ohm 7.1 to their full potential. If you're planning on bridging, I don't even know if it can be done with that amp, much less how well it would work. Hopefully the gurus will weigh in.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, 2 PBRs on 2 speakers total. Yes the pbr300x2 can be bridged at 4 ohms to 300w.

I'd like more opinions on polyfilling.

Polyfill cost 7.99 a roll brother. Try it out and see if you like it with or with out. I've tried no sheets, 1 sheet, 2 sheets, etc and ultimately left it how it sounded best to my ears. You'll want to put the fairing back on and see if you get a better low end response.

Barry, curious as to what results you had when adding polyfill behind the 7.1's. I've tried it on both the 7P1's and Pros with success. Was it the sound muddy, lost clarity, anything specific. I've also used dynamat with success as well.

Haze. Curious about the dynamat? Did you use it just on the outer fairing or did you put it on the mounting area as well?

about a 10x10 piece behind the speakers on the outer fairing. You can get it on eBay for around 15.00 bucks. Also worth the small investment.

Everything up and running now?
