SS PN4.1000D help
Just installed the pn41000d in my 14 street glide with magic box and Polk audio mm651 in fairing and a set of 5x7 polks in my lids. I was running the Pn4520 before I switched amps. Just wondering what settings on gains and crossover you guys are using. Seems like the polks don't like my new amp. Sounded better with my old amp. Should I get better speakers like biketronics? I'm feeling dissatisfied right now. Help guys!!!!

There is a sticky on how to set the gains. But, for my 4 ohm speakers, I set the gains at about 11:00.
The cross overs are used if you want to use a separate amp for bass sub-woofer. ...or something else. So, if you are just running 1 amp to 4 speakers, set the crossover switch to flat. I also discovered that somehow one of the switches moded on its own so I taped them in place once they were set.
Oh yeah, in case you have not discovered...the instruction include with the SS amp suck!

I would 100% use the HPF crossover on those speakers. Those polks can't reproduce the lowest freqs like a sub can. For the 6.5's try about 60hz cut off, for the 5X7's the lowest setting of 35hz.
I can assure you there is NO way your speakers will sound better with 520d vs. the 1000D. Set your gains according to the sticky up top. Set you volume to 75-80%, set your eq to flat, have your HPF already set and raise the gains until you hear some distortion and then lower it a tad. Every radio is different, also if you are running 2ohm or 4ohm speakers it may be different as well.
Yes better speakers will sound better, but you have a pretty good set of speakers there. You can make that sound terrific if you get your amp set correctly.

Tri -- FYI, if you've seen my 500.00 will eat your lunch thread. I'm using that same amp to power 8 speakers. 4 - 6.5's and 4 - 6X9's and I'm using the HPF on both channels. Even the 6X9's.

Thank you for the tips. I was just curious if I bought some biketronics and eliminated the pods would it sound better. I just feel the pods are holding my polks back. I added a bunch of polyfill and they still don't seem right. Also the Polk 5x7 seem like they don't work as well. They are rated at 92db and my 6.5 are rated at 94db. I just want to maximize my amp and speakers to get the best sound. Thanks again for the tips.
