Kenwood KDC-X998 (and others) playing by genre - I STAND CORRECTED
#11
Ok, made three separate folders for different genre, favorite songs only.
Set gain with MP2Gain.
Cleaned up the song info, renumber Tracks, and File Names with MP3 Tag Express.
Moved the folders to a USB drive.
Ran the Kenwood Music Editor to index the mp3 files and create a playlist. Click review to check the playlist.
Inserted the USB drive into the Kenwood 998, click on the search, then Playlist and there are the three folders.
No need to search through a bunch of albums while you are riding. The only time you have to touch the HU is to change folders.
Thanks AAWAV, all the info you posted was a big help.

I have the BT1005X with the mute function. Pressing the left button once mutes the volume. I haven't tried pressing it twice. The manual hasn't been updated to include the mute function.

Hey Murph, I sent Bill a PM and he didn't remember it working like this. He's looking into it and will get back to me in a couple of days. I also sent him a link to this thread. Will let you know what he comes up with.
