Default Want a good DIY system ASAP

I want to replace my wimpy sounding stock '15 Road Glide Special audio system I'm building a house now, so money is extra tight; I'm thinking $400 +/- $50 or so. This bike is my daily driver 365/24/7 come rain or shine since we gave up the 2nd truck. I've done a bit of reading and YouTubing, and am leaning towards a few certain components bought through Amazon. Rockford Fosgate amp PBR300x2 for $146, Polk Audio 6.5" speakers MM651 for $124, or Infinity Kappa 6.5" speakers 62.11 for $107, Rockford Fosgate power (10AWG) install kit RFK10 for $28, Magic Box at J&P Cycles for $70, and a RG specific amp bracket on Ebay for $35. The totals are $403 for the Polk Audio or $386 for the Infinity Kappa speakers. I know there are some added tidbits I'll need to spend money on, not sure what though.

Any thoughts or recommendations? I haven't spent the money yet so I'm still open to change. Any tips on installation or components, such as do I really need the amp bracket? I'd like to throw down the money in the next day or two.

You don't need the amp bracket.

Also only get the PBR if you must have FM reception otherwise there's Lots of better options. Cerwin B2 would be my first choice on a budget.

Kappas over the polks.

As always Haze, great advice. Kappas sound great. Also, the PN4.1000D is about $150 on ebay and gives the possibility of adding 2 more speakers later on. Have not had any issues with FM reception with this amp. Although, I'm not sure if it fits inside the Roadglide fairing.

Never really thought about FM reception, but I do like listening to my local radio sometimes. Anything else I should think about getting before starting the install? Want to get it done in an afternoon if possible.

Without the amp bracket how/where does the amp get placed and secured?

I have had good luck with Infinity Kappa speakers. Clear all the way up on volume.

That's a good question. I know they aren't necessary on a batwing, but I think they are on a Roadie. If I were you I'd just go ahead and get one. Since you don't mention a new head unit, what music source do you use? Every class D amp I've had killed FM, and I got tired of listening to the same CD over and over pretty quickly. Something to consider. I liked the Polks, but three sets failed so I'd recommend the Kappas too.

Someone recently put on on a new RG I saw in one of the threads here. I've got this amp and still have my FM.

I am leaning towards a SS Nano 350 2 channel (115x2) and a pair of Pioneer Premier TS-D6902R (80 RMS each)....I can get both for $92+$78=$170 total......should sound nice for a budget system (Road King with hard bags).

I pulled the ripcord and placed my order last night for the RF amp, Kappa speakers, Magic Box, 10AWG install kit, and a 4" stubby antenna...I've had to run without an antenna for a while since I tote a big lunchbox to work every day. $422 total after tax and shipping charges. We'll see how it turns out.
