Default Soundstream PN4.1000D ... best wire connector choice

For those that have installed the Soundstream PN4.1000D amp, what type of wire connector did you use for your power and speakers?

I am using simple crimp on ring terminals but due to the tight space issues in the front fairing (amp mounts between the HU brackets on top of the HU), the ends of the terminals restrict how far you can push the amp towards the front of the bike. Also, the RCA connectors for the preamp do the same thing. Wish the connections were on the front of the amp instead of the sides.

I can bend the ends of the ring terminal up and gain a little more space but really don't like the long term prospects of that setup.

My bike is a 2013 Ultra Classic, HU is a Sony DSX-S310BTX

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Maybe I'm not clear on your question, but power/ground wires for the amp side you don't need connectors, they go under a screw. Same thing for the speaker wire leaving the amp. Speakers generally have a slip on connector with 2 differents widths. Power and ground leads are connected to the battery with a ring lug.

just plain john: I understand that. At the amp site, I have connected my power, ground and speaker wires to crimp on ring terminals. I then secure the wire to the terminals using the screws provided. Did you just insert the bare wire into the screw hole and secure with the screw?

Yeah . . It's really tight in there. Instead of using connectors what I do is tin the ends of the wires and use a heavier gauge wire at the terminals. 14-16 gauge. This will allow you more clearance to push the amp back toward the gauges. The RCA side should be pushed back until it almost touches the black vertical bracket. You need flexibility with the wires to install this amp due to limited space. I've not had any come loose yet . . Knock on wood!!

That's correct. Back the screws out and insert the wire into the hole, tighten the screw to secure it. I find that if you solder the bare end of the wire it holds better. No connectors are needed on the amp at all.

I am using 16 gauge speaker wire and 14 gauge wire for my power and ground. I will do what you suggested. solder the ends and just insert them into the hole and secure with the supplied screw. thanks for the advice.

You will need to use a minimum of 10 gauge wire for your power and ground. 8 gauge would be even better.

2010 Limited with some stuff

The SS 1000 has 40 amp fuses in it. I would run at least a 10 gauge wires for both power and ground, and put an in line 30 amp fuse on the power lead. #8 would be even better.
