Default Boom Stage 2 in Road Glide -- no tweeters?

Hello folks,

I had the Stage II amp and the speakers installed in my new 2015 Road Glide. I immediately noticed that the treble is very weak. Turned it all the way up, and cupped my hand to the tweeters, and I hear NO discernable highs coming from the tweeter at all. In fact, I do not even believe sound is coming from them.

Showed the dealer, they were.... well... cautious. They say to "bring it back" and they will look at it...

So-- Anyone know if the Boom Stage 2 Amp has a crossover that needs to be adjusted for the tweeters? And/or do the tweeters count as 2 more speakers so these are technically 4 speaker systems and need a fader, or something?

Basically.... Help !

Any advanced advice before I go back will be helpful.

And, this is the same front end set-up as the Road Glide CVO so I will be walking straight into the showroom to compare the sound asap.

Thanks folks.

Have not had much interaction with the Boom II system. I'd say Dgreen would be your best source of information. I'd reach out to him if I were you. He's been to hell and back with that system.

Check out D's thread below. Not trying to rain on your parade but lots of folks have come to this forum with issues regarding the Boom II. If it were me man, just honest friendly advice, if I could come up with a reason it wasn't working I'd have HD take that thing back and let the folks here advise you on a system that will sound better and cost you less. Here's Dgreen's post. Unfortunate for him, his experience shared on the forum educated us to stay away.

Well.... just got back from dealer..

This stereo ROCKS now !

They re-downloaded the software and this thing is incredible.

I had a Fosgate amp and 6 Focal speakers in my 2012 and I am telling you this Stage II Boom amp and speakers in my 2015 road glide is very very comparable.

I hope folks who are having trouble get the correct download.

My stereo was crap before I went back and had them fix it.
With the right "download" it is an entirely different stereo.

I am very picky on the audio, had many many stereos installed in cars and my other bikes over the years.

I am happy to say this Stage II Boom set up for the Road Glide is way better than these forums let on...

I really wonder if the trouble is that others have what I had yesterday--> which was the wrong download and a flat boring sound.

Now I have some serious clarity and volume.

DONT GIVE UP !

That's great news man!!!

My guess is the early installs had some bugs and HD has corrected that with a newer software download you now have.

Glad it worked out for you.

Always good to hear success stories. Let's hope it's a permanent fix!

I'm a bit late to this party, but I'm glad to see you got your system working the way it should. To answer your earlier question, there is no crossover for the speakers. All of the frequency tuning is taken care of inside the amplifiers......that's why it sounds so much better after your dealer reprogrammed everything.

I think the Boom Stage II stuff came out in late Jan or Feb. (I can't remember which). Myself and several others went out and had the systems installed, but Harley didn't have everything ready yet. Between installation glitches and bad software, the systems sucked! It has always been my feeling that the system would be good eventually, but I wasn't willing to wait after spending almost $2k. A new software flash was developed for the amplifiers just a few weeks ago.....that fixed the biggest issue for me which was a constant cutting out at higher volumes.

Judging from your review, it sounds like HD finally got everything worked out. I'd love to hear a new Boom Stage II setup that sounds like it is supposed to.

Congrats!

Certainly glad to hear the positive outcome on your Boom Stage 2. Talk with my favorite dealer yesterday about looking into having the Boom Stage 2 audio installed. They assured me it would be a significant improvement over the stock system. I prefer to stay with all Harley products that are made to go hand in hand, along with warranty.

Warranty is one thing, and I can respect on a brand new bike, it's a big investment --- but lets be honest. The majority of aftermarket parts that are worth a damn are not made by HD. Exhaust, Cams, Shocks, etc.....same applies for audio.
