HK Radio cuts out
Hello!
Purchased a 2013 Electra Glide Classic 3 weeks ago and I'm having issues with the sound cutting in and out. I've read most of the posts relating to this common issue, but my problem is a little different.
I've run the diagnostics on the radio and there are no trouble codes.
When the sound cuts out, the headphone icon appears on the display. When the sound works, the speaker icon is displayed.
To me it doesn't sound like a wiring issue or bad speakers. I've read up on the AVC and no matter how it's set, I still have this issue.
I have a 1 year warranty with the bike, so it would just cost me $50 to have the dealer look at it. I just want to avoid leaving the bike for a few days if I can fix it myself.
Any info is greatly appreciated!

Yeah I'm inclined to agree with Bates. Bike is not old enough for the stock HU to be going to hell already. You still got about two years on that deal. . . If you are lucky. lol

Dammit Man! I stand corrected. The dealer is going to tell you they will have to take out your radio and send it to god knows where and get back to you in a week. long story short you're gonna need a new radio @ $500 bucks + labor. They don't repair. they replace. You would be money ahead to take the radio out yourself and send it to Iron Cross to be checked out. i.e., If you want to keep the stock radio. It's sad but the best solution when the stocker starts acting up is to go aftermarket.

I have a question...is this cutting out while you have something plugged into your rf jack on the front of the radio. if so, it could just be that the male plug into the jack is not seating properly. if you or the previous owner used that jack a lot it may have slightly bored out due to vibration.

i agree, but the same thing happened to my 13 ultra lmtd. i elected to go with Bluetooth instead. which entailed switching out my entire radio system. i added amps and speakers and new head unit. i spent almost $1000. 2 months later i traded the bike in for the 14 that i now have. my frustration went deep. my 13 had only 18000 miles on it when i got rid of it, but there were other issues starting to pop up so i figured i cut my losses by upgrading the whole bike...

Guys,
Nothing plugged into the RF jack. Just listening to FM stations. I appreciate all of your inputs, but it's a little disconcerting reading all these radio issues. I love the bike, and I'm not about to trade it in just for a bad radio. As I said earlier, I'll have the dealer check it out since it's still under warranty.
Thanks!
