I'm not an installer, but I'm an expert listener, so I'm coming to you guys! 3 years ago I spent a lot of money on a nice JL Audio system --- 2 in the fairing, 2 in the lowers, 2 in the rears, and a JL Audio amp in the tourpak. Complete with the crossovers, and the whole 9 yards. Last year I replaced the HK head unit with a cheap Sony, inside which I can put my Ipod. I had a GREAT system for a few years, and the Sony really woke it up. Amazing difference. I'm not happy with the stereo this year. I have more sound out of the right side (fairing), and I can adjust the balance so it's equal, but it's just not the same. I'm a 3 hour ride from the guy who installed the system. I think I'll let him take a look & see what he thinks.

My question --- I've had the Titan II upgrade in the past, from Biketronics, and I was pretty impressed. If the JL speakers are blown, I probably won't replace them. I might just go back to Biketronics. Just wondering if I can pull the JL speakers out, and slap the Biketronics in? Also, the JLs in the rear didn't last long before they blew up, so I don't even have speakers in the rear pods now. Rear crossovers are unhooked too.

The installer can probably answer all this for me when he gets into it. I'm just curious as to what you guys might think. There was no doubt that the rears were blown. I don't have that "crackling" in the fairing speakers --- I just don't have the volume on the left side like I do on the right. No worries if you can't answer this without seeing it. As I said, I'm just curious. Any opinions?

No problem taking the JL's out and replacing them with the Biketronics 6.5's because both speakers have the same size adapter. If you go with the 7.1's you will have to change the adapter. But the good news is the adapter you need, comes with the speakers. Biketronics is awesome! What JL model speakers do you presently have in there? and what model JL amp in the tourpak?

Pretty sure the speakers are C5-650 component, and the amp is a JX, but I'll check & let you know for sure. Bike's not here at the house. No storage space. It's a few miles away from here in a garage. Check back! I'll take a look at it, and let you know.

LOL. . . Everybody here is worthy my friend. I learn stuff everyday here on this forum from guys who have 4 post. Of course I go research it myself to make sure it's good info. If you do something everyday all day for a long enough period of time at some point you get pretty good at it. Just gotta retain the knowledge my friend! You are very much worthy to me!

Not even sure what amp it is. There are no markings on it (without taking it out & looking), but I got a couple pics.

Looks like the old version of the JL XD400/4v2. Nice amp bridged. Looks like the installer set up all 6 speakers to one amp. I've seen this set up before and it does sound really nice. I don't think there is too much wrong with your present system. Just needs to be gone back over with a fine toothed comb to make sure nothing has become loose and all the ground wires are as they should be. That's a really nice system you've got there!

I'm with Gannicus on this one. I'd make the trip to your installer, or another reputable one close by and have the take a look and make sure non of your setting have gotten out of whack. Very nice system indeed and I wouldn't walk away from it till I had it checked out first.
