Default Not happy with my Biketronics 7.1's

I recently blew my Infiniti Kappa speakers. I decided to go with an upgraded version (Biketronics 7.1), since I had to get in those stupid pods and replace them anyway. I had the PBR 300x2 amp, magic box, and Infiniti speakers. I replaced my speakers with the Biketronics 7.1's with the bracket to get rid of the pods. I left my magic box and my amp installed. I have my amp gain set to around 8 and my Hz set to around 125Hz. IMO they just don't sound that great!! I don't even think they sound as loud or as good as my Infiniti's did. Is there anything I'm missing or doing wrong with my set up I have???

I have tried tweaking the amp and controls on my NAV system (bass & treble), but haven't had any luck getting them to sound good.

It's not the speakers. It's the combination of those speakers with that amp. You were getting 150 at 2ohm with the kappas. Your only getting 100w now at 4ohm. Take a look at the Cerwin B2, I think it's a better sounding amp.... But you may lose some FM reception.

Thanks for the heads up. Looking like I will be buying a new amp soon. Lol

Do you happen to know of a good (small) 4 ohm 4 channel amp I can get? One that will fit in the fairing. I may put some 6x9's in the saddle bags in the future, and don't want to have to purchase another amp. I would rather save my saddle bag space and keep one amp for everything in the fairing.

Yeah Mike if you are not adverse to losing FM purchase the new Soundstream 1000D or the Power Acoustik 3000D which is the clone to the soundstream. They both fit in the fairing. You will notice a WORLD of difference when you purchase a new amp. Those speakers are good to go but they need more power than the X2 can provide @ 4 ohms.

Gann, does it fit in a 2014?

If not there's s few other choices, but a bit costlier. The new Soundstream is your best bang for your buck. If it doesn't fit, I may have an amp at the house for you.

And for sure do the 6X9. Che k out the Infinity 693.9i. Gann put me up to these and they keep up with my Hertz HCX 6X9.

Dam . . Another 14? Hell Man I'm not sure. I gotta start paying attention to the model year. Dam it man!! As HAZE said there are other options that will fit if the SS or PA doesn't. I know the MOTO 600.4 and the BT4180 will fit But they are much more expensive.

Set the amp to "all pass" and the gain to about 7. You should get pretty much distortion free sound. The BT 7.1's will not be as loud as the Kappas, but you will have better lows and mids. If FM is important to you then stick with that amp or a class G amp. I replaced the PBR 300x2 with a RF 400x2ad. Great match with the 7.1s, but being a class a/d amp my FM was degraded from the PBR. I was able to re-gain about 80-90% of the FM reception using type 31 ferrite beads on the wires going into the T400 amp. I'm happy with the amp/speaker upgrade.

Gannicus just helped me set up my RF 400x2ad via PM, I had the pbr 300x4 before, the difference is HUGE, and I'm pushing speakers that require just as much or more power than the BT 7.1s.

I cant speak to the sounds stream, but the RF will make your ears bleed.

I have the SS 4.1000D and it makes my 7.1's scream!!!!. I fits in the fairing of my RG, although it was a tighter fit than the 4.520. It's definitely worth the $$$.
