Add to system with HD Bomm, Intercom, CB Help
2012 Ultra Limited.
Recently I changed my stock to the following:
PBR300x2 and 2 Kappas 62.11 in fairing Stock head unit.
I am having a problem that with gain set at 4 1/2 and volume at 10+ bars the system starts to clip when playing CD's or MP3 player.
I need suggestions for the next to do. I have read the posts on there and searched and I see some head unit suggestions, but what I don't know if they interfere with using wired headsets, the HD Bomm Module, CB, Intercom.
1) Change the head unit.
2) I want to keep my handlebar controls.
3) CD I can take it or leave it.
4) I like the idea of streaming from my cell phone.
5) I have an HD Bomm module as I do need to take calls sometimes. I don't want to give that up.
6) I use the HD Wired Headset in my full face helmet. I want to keep that option also.
7) If possible I would like to keep the CB, intercom, options (thinking about items others will want if I should trade/sell the bike in a few years)
8) I have a Zumo Road Tech connected to the Aux input on the stock HU. I don't want to give up the ability for that to work through my system.
9) I don't want to mess with a rain guard.
10) Would like to add lower speakers.
11) Will want to change the Rear speakers. Will they need to amped also?
12) No desire right now to add lid speakers, or tour pak speakers.
13) Would like to keep as much of what I have now if possible.
14) I listen to FM radio everywhere I go, so I don't want to lose that.
15) Front USB would be nice for a thumb drive.
Money to spend, $500.00 right now (doesn't include rear speakers and if I need to attach an amp to them)

Can not help you with most of this but I can say that the HD Bomm will not work with any other HU except the Factory Harmon Kardon Radio.

I've been very happy with the Pre-Amp output mod from Iron Cross Audio.. (I also did bluebooth).. it allows me to go up to about 3 or so from max volume on the stock HU without distortion. This is with a Biketronics 4180 Amp though so your results with the PBR may be a bit different but if you want to keep the CB and such its your only option.

Thanks for the responses, that was what I thought. I use the CB and I have and use the HD Boom and I like the wired headset, I don't want to have to remember to charge a BT set.
I will consider the Iron Cross option this winter when I don't ride as much, I don't want to be without my tunes through ridding months.
Meanwhile I will consider adding speakers to my lowers and upgrading the rear speakers perhaps. That will be for other research and other threads to ask on.
Thanks
