Default Biketronics Retro Radio install kit vs. Sony MEX-GS810BH

Has anyone installed a Sony MEX-GS810BH? It uses a two part case and the Biketronics install kit won't fit as is.

on my last Sony. I took off the outer "sleeve" so it could fit with my metra kit. I think I had to bend back a few tabs for it to slide out. If that's what we're talking about.

Maybe we are, but I've never seen a Metra kit. I'll look into it closer. Removing the sleeve I mean, not the Metra kit.

You have to remove the sleeve. Installed it a few weeks ago.

yes , pitch that sleeve. pull back tabs, like stated and easy-peasy fits like a glove. just installed mine yesterday. Now if only the soundstream 4.520 was the original size as stated, before they changed connection block... Damn thing is super tight fitting, wires are bent at almost a ninety. don't like it....may go back to PBR300x2, but that thing got hot...oh well, never easy lol

remove and discard the radio cage. This short clip will run you through the radio install:

As y'all have pointed out after removing the sleeve it fit without trouble. Next hurdle...unpinning the DSX harness from the BT module and replacing it with the MEX harness. UltraNutZ did the original install on it, but I can't recall if the pins came with the connector or what. Hopefully he will reply to my text soon.

i have a Power Akoustic amp that's the same dimensions as Soundstream. I put a piece of 1x4 between the radio and amp, and it raised the amp enough to gain some clearance for the connection blocks.

John - it will be fine, the "bending" of the cables (probably referring to the RCA's). you can also look at some 90 degree angle RCA cables on the web.
