Default RF T400x2ad amp

Changed out my RF PBR300x2 for the T400x2ad amp today. Very easy install and it was a plug and play replacement from my previous setup as I didn't need to change any wiring. Very nice little amp with almost the same dimensions as the PBR300x2 and it fits easily under the fairing in essentially the same footprint. Birth sheet shows 548 watts @ 2 ohms and 499 watts @ 4 ohms with THD at a low 0.15% at rated power. Very easy to set the gain using the included CD containing a 1 KHz test tone. Actually you adjust the input volume until the input clip indicator light turns red and then back the volume down some until the light goes off. Then you adjust the gain until the output clip indicator light turns blue. I left the crossover set to AP. After you have your gain set, just connect your speakers and you are ready to go. Install was less than an hour. Sounds great powering my BT7P1's in the fairing. Very loud and clear sound with good bass and mids from the Biketronics speakers. With the PBR300 I had to fade a few bars to the front for balanced sound with my rear pod speakers, but with the T400 I leave the fader at zero and it sounds well balanced. The extra power coming from the T400x2ad vs. the PBR300x2's is a perfect match for the BT7P1's.

Sweet man. Lots of good reviews on these amps. That's surely a bigtime upgrade over the PBR. Those 7.1's must sound great.

I've got my eye on a T400X4AD to test against a 4180.

I'd think the 4180 should win out - 180 watts/channel vs. 100 watts/channel for the T400x4ad - but I'm certainly interested in your test!

Well, I have installed the RF T4t00x4ad (Birth 580W at 4 or 2 ohm). It is awesome . I have the amp driving 4 focal 165KRC. All I can say it makes the biketronics speakers and most others like Polk or infinity sound amateurism.

You have some nice numbers for the T400x4ad; but it is still not as powerful as the BT4180. Of course there's a lot more to an amp than raw power as we all know. I've heard those Focals and they sound awesome; but at more than twice the price of the Biketronics 7.1's you'd expect a better sounding speaker. The Biketronics products have a lifetime warranty which can be a significant factor if you blow a speaker (not uncommon) or your amp, just sayin'. I tried to install a BT2180 but couldn't get it to fit with my Dakota Digital gauges so I opted for the RF T400x2ad instead. It is definitely an upgrade over the PBR300x2 I had, but again at more than twice the price...So bottom line is you get what you pay for.

I had the T400x2 on the bench... Haze knows... it was VERY good, lots of low and low mids (hard to explain - I think the AD design has something to do with it). see sticky, amp tests.

the BT4180 will win from the x4....

Did you retain FM reception with the T400x2ad?

Congrats on you new setup. I knew from past thread you wanted to hear different setups. If you're still around during G-burg bike week I will be at Battlefields, The Pike, Blue & Gray, or at the square smoking a fine cigar from Union Cigar.

I still have it, but must say that my signal is weaker and I'm only getting the strongest stations. I'm not sure if it's somehow a function of my installation or the amp?
