Default Can u run a componet set up with out the tweaters?

Sorry if this is a dumb ? but I couldn't find anything with a search. I'm looking at Purchasing a speaker set up and Seams like the better speakers are coming in a component set up and I'm not to crazy about cutting a hole in the inner fairing to mount them, So will the speakers work with out the tweeters? Or is there another way of doing it? Its going on My 2014 SGS

Is this a real question? If you have to ask, don't touch it! You haven't got a clue.

I'd send you to the 2014 Audio thread, but I see you found it on your own. A step in the right direction!

I'll answer more directly but the prior poster may be right. You can but it likely change the ohm load that your system sees. You need to measure the load of the speakers you want to use and match it to your systems needs. So if you are using a 6.5 inch and tweeter system, just measure the 6.5 with an ohm meter and see what it says. Then look at the capabilities of your amp or deck (power source). Post up what you want to use and people can guide you.

Better yet, you can find plenty of good speaker options that are not in a component set-up. There is an entire thread for your bike on here.

Good luck

HAMZZ, You got nothing better to do then surf around here just to be a dick to people. It must be nice to know everything.
Thanks hickjays. Looking at the Infinity 60.11, I have a wet sounds amp 75 rms @4 ohm, and 125 rms @2 ohm. Its practically the same amp as the Arc Audio.

No Dumb questions here Sir. The 60.11cs infinity speakers are very nice speakers. Unfortunately you will have to use the tweeters for them to sound good. In addition they also have crossovers and I'm not sure how much room you have in the 14's to mount them. The 62.11i coaxial version is the way I would go. They will sound just as good with the wet sounds amp you already have. The thing about the infinity speakers is they take way more power than they are rated and the amp you presently have would not push the component set to their full potential. You would need a Biketronics 2180 to push them with. On the other hand the coaxial set would sound decent with that amp.
