Default stock radio

I want to keep my stock radio and want a amp and speakers, needing recommendations to what is good but not bust the bank. I put hogtunes in and have removed them as they are junk, better that stock but not worth the money. the bike is a 2002 ultra. the reason I went with the hogtunes was for the plug & play.

How many speakers?

Do you listen to FM?

What's your budget?

Lots of good options out there that will be better than Hogtunes.

most popular BUDGET one

infinity kappas 6.5" 62.11i $100-130 range
paired with
pbr300x2 amp keep FM
or
cerwin b2 (little better but could possibly lose fm
either amp at $150

Amp wiring kit $10-15

Would cover the front fairing with these.

In your '02 if you go with the Kappas, which are really good speakers for the money, you will also need a set of 6.5" adapters. You can get a set on ebay from Eastern Performance Cycle for I believe $29. The other ones that come highly recommended are the adapters from ARC Audio but they are more money.

this would be a 4 speaker system so I need a 4 channel amp, I do listen to fm most of the time. and the budget is small (maybe 400). I have adapters coming (thanks OSUHD). I am not looking for the best out there but that hogtunes was not much better than stock. I did not know a amp could make me loose the fm.

Are the speakers in the lowers or rear pods? If in the lowers you could run the speakers in parallel off the amp, can do the same in rear but you'll lose fade control.

In an '02, while retaining the stock radio, you're going to have more limited options. That radio is very thick inside the faring, such that most (if not all) amps are not going to sit on top of the headunit and still be able to close up the faring when you're done. You'll need to get the side amp bracket from Hogtunes, and an amp that will fit on it.

I just walked my cousin through this on his '05 Ultra, and this was the setup we went with and has him very happy compared to stock (front speakers need adapters, but the rears will drop right in):

Amp: Rockford Fosgate PBR300x4 $153

Amp bracket: Hogtunes Amp Mount $40

Faring Speaker Adapter Rings: $20

Speakers: 2 sets of Kicker KSC67’s $100/pair

And because he liked them, these speaker grills from the Harley Boom kit (but can be bought separately)
76000324 CVO/Boom! 6.5” Rear Speaker Grills $19/ea
