In addition to what's already been posted. Since you're opening it up again double check the mounting of the speakers. A recent poster had an issue with the mounting possibly causing some interference with the speakers movement which would cause poor sound quality.

Good news - I think I've got it sounded quite a bit better. I went back in and checked the switches on the speakers - they were indeed set to +3db. I went ahead and changed that to 0, and also went from 3 sheets of polyfil to 2. It sounds a lot better - I think. I think my ears may need some time to readjust

Anyhow, I'm happy with it now. Money well spent IMO.

When I asked UN, he said he always sets them to 0.

That's a good call. I just didn't even notice the buttons when I did the install. I hadn't seen a reference to them in any of the install instructions that I read either. Oh well, live and learn!

It is a drawing of the button in the Owners Manual.
I was helping a guy with his 62.11i speaker install the other day and when I grabbed the tweeter he told me no, it may break. He didn't receive the manual so he was unaware of the dB button and the fact that the tweeter swiveled.

+1 on setting them to zero. I didn't notice the buttons until after the install, when reading the instructions (who reads those anyway!) The default button setting was +3, and was too harsh. Pulled the speakers back out and set them to zero, much better.

On the poly-fil, when I first listened with none, there was zero mid-bass or bass, just the higher frequencies. With 3 layers and the fairing back together, I get decent mid-bass in the garage, given the size of the speakers. When outside, there's a noticeable drop in perceptible lows.

So, definitely not a "show off in parking lot" 2-speaker sound system, but good for listening while riding, especially at highway speeds where bass all but disappears anyway.
