Default HU question

My buddy that I hooked up with my 300X2 and Kappas when I got the BT Pros is looking at HUs. He's looking at the Kenwood KMR-M312BT. Other than being under the 4v at the preouts we'd like to see. Is there any other reason I should try and steer him in a different direction or will he be good...short of the lower output voltage?

Although we highly recommend 4V pre-out he can get by with the 2V just fine. The general idea is the higher input voltage to your amp will require less amplification and as a result less noise. On the other hand having higher voltage in the rca's make them less likely to pick up induced noise from the power wires or any other high voltage source. Other than that no technical reason to steer him in a different direction, Mainly preference. Personally I prefer 4 to 5V.

Thanks Gann. I told him about ideally wanting a higher output voltage of at least the 4v. He believes he'll be good with the 2.5v. I guess we'll know by whether or not I get a call that his system is hissing, humming, or making some other funny little noises. Lol
